Nokia makes Lumia 900 free to all AT&T customers, now through April 21st

                   


Now through April 21st, any AT&T customer who purchases a Lumia 900 will receive a $100 rebate from Nokia -- effectively making the device free. The move is ostensibly a goodwill gesture from the Finnish manufacturer, which confirmed that a small number of early Lumia 900 handsets shipped from the factory with faulty software that caused memory management issues.

The next-gen iPhone is going to be a really big deal and include plenty of design tweaks, according to reports.

Display and chassis: Let's start with a report at Business Insider, which cites a research note from Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White (returning from a tour of component suppliers in China). White says the next iPhone will have 4-inch screen and "sleek look that we believe will require a unibody case."

Over half a million Apple's Mac computers hit by Trojan

Over 550,000 Apple Mac computers have been reportedly affected by a Trojan attack, a Russia based antivirus maker Doctor Web reported. According to the firm, this attack is affecting computers running on Mac OS X software.

As per a blog post by the company, Most of the infected machines are located in United States and Canada. Although Apple has already patched the vulnerability, there may be thousands of computers out there, who may not have applied the security patch.

Microsoft to buy 800 patents from AOL for $1 billion

AOL said Monday that it has agreed to sell 800 of its patents and their related applications to Microsoft and grant it a license for its remaining patents for a total about $1.06 billion in cash.

New York-based AOL Inc. said it plans to return some of the sale proceeds to its shareholders.

The company's shares jumped $6.46, or 35 percent, to $24.77 in premarket trading. Microsoft shares slipped 22 cents to $31.30.

Facebook buying photo-share app Instagram for $1 billion

Facebook is spending $1 billion to buy the photo-sharing company Instagram in the social network's largest acquisition ever.

Instagram lets people apply filters to photos they snap with their mobile devices and share them with friends and strangers. Some of the filters make the photos look as if they've been taken in the 1970s or on Polaroid cameras.

"This is an important milestone for Facebook because it's the first time we've ever acquired a product and company with so many users," CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page. "We don't plan on doing many more of these, if any at all."
